üWilliam Shakespeare built TWO theaters on June 29, 1613 there was a fire at the original Globe Theater and it burnt down within 2 hours.
üWomen were not allowed to work as actors at the Globe Theatre. Since women were not allowed to work at the theatre young men had to dress as woman and wear makeup.
üThe Globe Theatre had different colored flags that represented the different types of plays that would be played on that day.
üTheatre performances were so popular that in 1591 the growing popularity of theatres led to a law of closing all theatres on Thursdays.
The actual Globe Theatre was built by a carpenter, Peter Smith and his workers. On June 29, 1613 a cannon was shot off as a sound effect in the theatre. When the cannon went off a spark lit and the thatched roof caught on fire, when it caught on fire the flames broke out causing the theatre to burn down. White flags at the theatre meant comedy, black flags represented a tragedy, and the red flags meant there was going to be a play about history.
